Have you ever found yourself wondering if God wants you to be in a relationship with someone?

It can be a tricky question to answer, but there are definitely signs that can help point you in the right direction.

There are many ways that God can communicate His plan for your relationship, from feeling a strong sense of compatibility to receiving positive feedback and support from those around you.

It’s important to remember that God’s plan for our lives may not always be clear or easy to understand. But when it comes to relationships, He wants what’s best for us and will make sure we know it when the time is right.

So, if you’re questioning whether or not God wants you to be with someone, keep reading. We’ll be discussing the signs that can help you understand if it’s truly God’s will for you to be in a relationship with that special someone.

1. Synchronicities and coincidences

God is a master of orchestrating the perfect timing and circumstances in our lives. He often uses coincidences to guide us toward the people and relationships that He wants for us, and these can happen in unexpected ways.

Imagine you’re at a coffee shop, minding your own business, and you strike up a conversation with the person sitting next to you. You discover that they share the same passion for photography as you do and they even know someone who works at the same company as you.

As you’re leaving, you realize that you both have the same book in your hands and you both even read the same author. This could be a coincidence, but what if it’s not? What if it’s God’s way of telling you that this person is meant to be in your life, maybe even as a romantic partner?

Or perhaps you’re at a party and you keep running into the same person over and over again. You both have a great time talking and laughing together, but you think nothing of it.

But then you start to notice that you keep seeing them everywhere. At the grocery store, at the park, at a friend’s house. It starts to feel like you’re being thrown together by fate. Maybe this is God’s way of saying that He wants you to be in a relationship with this person.

Synchronicity and coincidence can also happen in more subtle ways. For example, you’re on a date with someone and you seem to connect so well that you two always seem to say the same things at the same time. It’s as if both of you are thinking the same thing.

Whatever form it takes, God’s synchronicity and coincidence are always pointing us toward His plan for us. Sometimes it can be hard to see the bigger picture and we might question if it’s just a coincidence or not.

But when we trust in God’s timing and open our hearts to the possibilities, we can see the dots connecting and know that He is leading us toward the relationships He wants for us.

2. Mutual interests and values

Imagine you’re at a volunteer fair, exploring all the different organizations you can get involved with. Suddenly, you strike up a conversation with someone passionate about the same cause you are.

As you chat, you discover that not only do you have this mutual interest, but you also share similar values and beliefs. Or perhaps you’re at a concert, and you strike up a conversation with someone who is just as passionate about the band as you are.

As you talk, you realize that you have a lot in common and that you share similar values and beliefs. You can’t help but think that maybe this person is meant to be in your life.

In all these scenarios, it might be God using mutual interests and values as a way to show you that He wants you to be in a relationship with someone. He’s bringing you together with someone who shares your passions and beliefs, someone who will understand and support you in your journey.

God also uses mutual interests and values as a way to show you that He wants you to be in a relationship with someone who will challenge you to grow and become a better person.

He’s bringing you together with someone who will push you to be the best version of yourself, someone who will help you to see things from a different perspective, and someone who will help you to achieve your goals.

Ultimately, God’s plan for you is to be in a relationship with someone who will help you to become the person He created you to be.

He may use mutual interests and values as a way to bring you together with someone who will help you to achieve your full potential, and who will make your life more meaningful and fulfilling.

3. Strong sense of connection and chemistry

You know how sometimes you meet someone and it just clicks? Like, you feel this instant connection and you can’t quite explain it? That’s what I like to think of as “chemistry”.

I was in a conversation with one of my married friends and she shared the story of how she met her husband and when she knew he was the one for her. So, before they started dating they knew each other but were not friends yet.

Not to bore you with a long description, but the day she got a nudge inside of her that he was her husband was when they both went to a church program in their locality and saw themselves unexpectedly.

According to her, he smiled and shook her hand, and immediately, she felt this rush from within that made her almost hug him. It was as if they had been good friends for a long time whom she really missed.

God can use a strong sense of connection as a sign that you and that person are meant to be together. And it’s not just about physical attraction, it’s about all the little things. Like, you can talk for hours and never get bored or you just get each other’s sense of humor.

It’s about feeling like you can be completely yourself around that person without fear of judgment. It’s about feeling safe and comfortable and like you’re home.

4. A sense of compatibility

Well, first of all, it’s important to remember that God wants what’s best for us and He wants us to be happy. So when it comes to marriage, He wants us to be with someone who we can build a healthy and loving relationship with.

And one of the key factors in that is compatibility. When you have a strong sense of compatibility with someone, it means that your values, goals, and personalities align well together.

You understand each other and can communicate effectively. You can work through challenges and disagreements without it feeling like the end of the world. And most importantly, you can make each other happy.

Compatibility doesn’t mean that you and your partner will exactly be the same or that you don’t have any differences. In fact, having some differences can actually be a good thing because it allows you to learn and grow from each other.

But the key is that you have a strong foundation of understanding and respect that allows you to work through those differences. So what happens when God wants you with someone is that He makes you two compatible with each other.

It’s also important to remember that God’s timing is not always the same as our timing, so even if you feel like you’re compatible with someone and you’re ready for marriage, it doesn’t mean that God is ready for you to take that step yet.

It’s important to trust in His timing and to pray for guidance and wisdom in your relationship.

5. Your vision and goals in life align

In a good relationship, you feel happy together or enjoy each other’s company. But that’s not enough to create a strong bond between you two.

There should be a feeling like you’re meant to be doing something together. Like you have a shared mission or goal and that your relationship is helping you to achieve it.

A feeling like you’re making a positive impact on the world and that you’re a better person for being with your partner. And when God wants you to be with someone, he may use this as a sign.

There’s a part in the Bible that says, “can two walk together unless they agree?” It’s a statement that explains the effectiveness of unity.

It’s not always easy to find someone who shares your values and goals, but when you do, it’s truly special. It’s like you’re on the same wavelength, and you’re able to accomplish so much more together than you ever could alone.

6. The relationship deepens your connection with God and your faith.

Sometimes, it may seem like it’s not clear-cut when it comes to God’s plan for our relationships. But one thing I believe is that when we’re in a relationship that deepens our connection with God, it’s a good indication that it’s something He wants for us.

Think about it, when we’re in a relationship that brings us closer to God, we’re able to grow spiritually and be a better version of ourselves. It’s not just about the happiness and satisfaction we get from being with that person, but also the positive impact it has on our relationship with God.

Plus, when we’re in a relationship that aligns with God’s will, it’s natural for it to be fulfilling and bring us joy. It’s not always going to be easy, but it should be something that brings peace and a sense of purpose.

Now, that doesn’t mean that every relationship that makes us feel good is God’s plan for us. It’s important to also consider other factors like compatibility, shared values, and if the relationship is healthy for both parties.

And not all relationships or friendships that bring us closer to God indicate that God wants us to be more than friends. It’s important to pray and seek guidance from God, and also seek wise counsel from your spiritual leaders.

7. Consistent positive and supportive feedback from your trusted friends, family members, and spiritual leaders.

It is very advisable that when you’re considering something important in your life, like a big decision or a major change, it’s important and always helpful to get feedback and support from the people around you.

Like, if you’re thinking about a new job or a move to a different city, you want to hear what your loved ones have to say about it, right? Or what someone who has lived there for a while has to say about the place.

It’s the same thing when it comes to relationships. When you’re thinking about marrying someone, it’s important to get feedback and support from the people who know you best and care about you the most.

Think about it this way, your family and friends have been with you for a long time, they know you well, and they have your best interest at heart.

So, if they see something in the person you’re considering marrying that they think is or isn’t a good fit for you, they’re likely seeing something that you may not see yourself.

God speaks through people, especially the people He knows we hold so dearly and respect a lot. Sometimes, He uses the people around us to give us guidance and confirmation.

So, if you’re getting positive feedback and support from your family and friends about your relationship, it may be a sign that God wants you to be together.

8. You start seeing growth in certain  aspects of your life

When you’re in a relationship with someone, it’s natural for both people to grow and change in different ways. And if you start noticing positive growth in certain areas of your life, like becoming a more patient person or developing a deeper sense of trust, it could be a sign that God is using this relationship to help you grow and become a better person.

But it’s important to keep in mind that growth doesn’t always mean everything is perfect. It’s not always sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes growth happens through tough times and challenges.

And it’s important to have open and honest communication with your partner about where you’re at in your growth and how you can support each other through it.

It’s also worth considering if your relationship is helping you to grow closer to God. Are you both actively working on your spiritual growth together? Are you able to support each other in your faith? These are all important things to consider when thinking about marriage.

Ultimately, it’s not always easy to know if God wants you to be with someone. But if you’re paying attention, you’ll start to see signs that can point you in the right direction. And if you’re growing and becoming a better person in the relationship, that’s a good sign.

But don’t forget to consult with God through prayers and seek the guidance of your spiritual leaders or mentor.

9. His word confirms it

First of all, I’d like you to understand that God’s plan for our lives is unique and specific to each of us. So, while there may be certain signs or confirmations that point to a certain relationship being in line with His will, it’s ultimately up to each individual to seek and listen to God’s guidance in their own life.

With that being said, one way that God may confirm that you’re meant to be with someone is by His Word. This can be while you’re reading the Bible or while you’re listening to a sermon.

Now, it should be clear to you how God communicates to you. For some people, it can be through people around them, as I mentioned earlier.

While for others, after they’ve prayed about an issue, they get a nudge to read a particular scripture, and a word drops in their heart to confirm the answer to their prayers.

10. There is peace

For me, peace is the most tangible sign that God is speaking. Peace in your heart, your relationship, and everything else.

Now peace doesn’t mean an absence of trials or challenges. It’s that confidence you have that all will be fine, that the storm will be still, that you’re not alone in the heat of the matter. That’s peace.

One sign that God wants you to marry someone is that He puts a feeling of peace and contentment in your heart when thinking about the person, despite any potential challenges or obstacles.

You know that feeling when you’re just lounging around at home, and suddenly a certain someone pops into your mind? And instead of feeling anxious or stressed, you feel a sense of calm wash over you!

That, my friend, could be a sign that God wants you to be in a relationship with that person.

It’s not just a feeling of contentment either, it’s a sense of peace that you can’t quite put your finger on. It’s like all your worries and doubts just disappear when you think about them.

It’s a feeling you can’t ignore, and it’s one of the clearest signs that God wants you to be with that person.

Final word

Interpreting the will of God is a personal endeavor, and ultimately, it is up to an individual to discern whether or not they believe God is calling them to be in a relationship with someone.

Remember, always pray and seek guidance from God about your relationship. He wants what’s best for you, and He’ll make sure you know if this is the person He wants you to spend your life with.
